The young German soprano Tina Scherer made her stage debut at the Zurich Opera as Eliza
Doolittle in “My Fair Lady.” She was engaged at the international festival in Aix-en-Provence
in the summer of 2002. In 2003, the lyrical soprano was signed by the Rhine Opera
Duesseldorf and she moved to the Berlin Opera (Deutsche Oper Berlin) at the start of the
2005/2006 season.
Beyond the operatic stage, Tina Scherer has made a name for herself as a concert soloist
during guest apperances including those at the Ludwigsburg Music Festival
(Schlossfestspiele), the Cologne Philharmonic, the Stuttgart Liederhalle, the Essen
Philharmonic, the Music Hall Hamburg, the Tonhalle in Duesseldorf, the Concert House
Berlin and the Berlin Philharmonic.During her busy concert tours she also dedicates herself to the singing of Lieder, in particular
the Lieder of the German romantic period and has developed a close collaboration with
Dieter Paier and Martin Stadtfeld.
Conductors with whom she has worked include: Yves Abel, Philipp Augin, Constantinos
Carydis, Marcus Creed, Jonathan Darlington, John Fiore, Reinhard Göbel, Ralf Otto, Kirill
Petrenko, Hans-Christoph Rademann and Helmuth Rilling.
She has recorded for radio, television and CDs.
Tina Scherer has been honored with many prizes at international competitions. She won the
1st Prize at the international Hilde-Zadek Song Contest in Vienna (2003). At the Federal
Song Contest (Bundeswettbewerb Gesang) in November 2004, she was recognized with the
second prize in the musical theater competition and the special prize for best voice
performance.
She received her musical education under the tenor Werner Compes and at the University of
Cologne, under Professor Klesie Kelly-Moog, where she finished her studies with honors.
She has attended masterclasses with Philip Langridge, Thomas Quasthoff, Brigitte
Fassbaender and Gundula Janowitz, with whom she has been working regularly since 1999.
